Days: Friday July 24th
- The Milton Cup
will be played for, as will the
Tunnock Trophy. At this
competition there will be divisions for all ages/abilities and final
groups for players will be decided by the coaches. August 12/13th.-
Coaching led by Mike Hobday: The
Lyrawa Bay Tankard will
be played for during a two-day event, including coaching and
constructional chukkas. The Lyrawa Bay Trophy for the best overall
playing Pony Club Pony during the summer holidays, will be awarded at
this week-end. Further dates will be
announced on the Web site as they are confirmed Advanced
training in Scotland: For
2009, we are again indebted to Major Mike Fraser, who has kindly
offered to provide some training to the more experienced players. He
will be available during the two weeks following Senior Summer Camp
(starting Monday July 20th,
and if numbers forward and ponies permit, Pony Club Polo would like
to hold a tournament at the end of the training on Friday
July 31st.
If pony numbers are limited, this will be in the form of a match with
chukkas spread over the day with junior chukkas in between. As
those of you who have previously attended these sessions already
know, they are of immense value, very enjoyable and may be followed
on the training days by Pony Club chukkas if time, umpiring and
support permits. The
sessions will always take place in the mornings, with exact days to
be confirmed
For 2009, Major Mike has
indicated that he would like players to COMMIT, ideally, to ALL 4
sessions spread over the two weeks OR if necessary, to two separate
intensive weeks, Each to be for different groups. In that event,
there would NOT be cross over between the two weeks. It would be one
or the other. Whichever
we end up doing, though, the IMPORTANT point is that we need
commitment to the whole course as Major Mike's course content is
carefully scheduled for continuity. If
you would like to be considered for this opportunity, then NOW
is the time to persuade your parents to arrange your family holidays
for August!!Please make a note in your diaries and give me your names
as soon as you can – and definitely by Easter Course. THIS
is advance warning, in order to help you plan! Pony Club
Polo Trip to Rugby Polo Club This
is arranged for August 4-6th exclusive of travel. This
was a fabulous
experience for the members who went in 2008 and they raved about it!!
They had huge fun as well as improving their Polo and their pony
care. The
Baker Family at Rugby Polo Club (we are all familiar with the calibre
of Philip's coaching!) will provide another great experience and I
can recommend the trip as an activity holiday, so start saving now
guys!! This
is a trip suitable for any member from age 11/12 upwards, who will be
happy to ride a safe, well trained Polo Pony and who will be happy to
be accompanied by a responsible adult representative of Pony Club
Polo. Information and forms for this will be out at Easter. For
more details of these Summer holiday activities REFER TO INFORMATION AND ENRTY FORMS ON DOWNLOADS PAGE OF THIS WEB SITE if you have any queries, please contact Katie Coward on kt752@hotmail.com
